Opportunity LOL Reviews: Play Imaginative's Chinese Zodiac Mini Figure World Series by Joe Ledbetter
Let's face it, Joe Ledbetter is like the cool kid at school who makes an effort to sit at everyone's lunch table. In the art world he's partnered with almost every toy manufacture to bring his aesthetic to life through various epic mediums. From light switches to lunch boxes to piggy banks, being a Ledbetter fan means you have access to a tremendous variety of works to display in your home. No stranger to Opportunity LOL, in the past we've had the pleasure of reviewing the artist's Wrecks & Dazey Vinyl Toys based on the "My Dinosaur Life" album by Motion City Soundtrack. Today's review focuses on one of his newest releases, the Zodiac Mini Figure World Series made by Play Imaginative.
From talking to both retailers and collectors, these figures have had an extremely high demand. With the decision not to go blind box, astrology fans have had the chance to be introduced to designer vinyl while at the same time have the ability to purchase the exact figures desired. Whether someone wants to create an entire 12 year display on their wall or give a birthday gift of the ram, doing so is much more obtainable and affordable. Capturing Joe Ledbetter's classic paper cut-out brought-to-life aesthetic, these characters stand anywhere between 3.5 and 4 inches tall. Please note, these figures are as delicate as they appear. Our rat is a little hard of hearing since I broke his ear off after the picture was taken, so be sure to handle them carefully!
As you can see from above, the pig appears so content with life that having him sit by my computer allows me to remain calm and centered more often. The ram with a cloud like belly is one determined creature who is definitely sporting angry eyes. Meanwhile the rat, my personal sign, appears adorably mischievous with his buck teeth and wrap-around tail. Want to see the toys from more angles?
