Opportunity LOL x LIFT Reviews: Kidrobot's 7" Staple Pigeon
To get this right out there in the open before we go any further in this review, NO the fake poop does not glow in the dark. Don't worry, we checked! As if the Michelin Man had a pet pigeon, this puffed up guy stands a whopping 7 inches tall. Any time a designer toy automatically presents itself with some unique home display options I become more interested. Once a spot was picked in my home office for the bird to hang out I had the pleasure of deciding where to place the poop accessory. A touch of class if I do say so myself! After having the chance to review quite a bit of Kidrobot toys in the past here on Opportunity LOL, I have to say I was highly impressed at the overall quality of the pigeon. As you can see from our comprehensive Flickr set the figure has very few quality control issues, if any at all. The body of the bird looks as though he were made up of inner tubes stacked on top of one another. Of course other staffers believes the pigeon is more reminiscent of swirly soft serve ice cream. The only parts that stray from the black gradient color scheme are the bird's pink eyes and bright red feet.
This figure is a collaboration with Staple Design, realizing their iconic pigeon used in much of their branding. Seeing Kidrobot step away from their iconic Dunny figures is refreshing, I hope to see more company partnerships in the future that result in such well designed toys. Limited to 800 total vinyl pieces, you can purchase one directly from Lift Detroit. If you're into lowbrow art or even just appreciate picking up the newest blind box toys, you should consider checking out Lift Detroit in person the next time you're near Royal Oak, Michigan.
