Opportunity LOL Reviews: The Debut Episode of "Jon Daly's Rafflecast" Bieber 2051 from Jon Daly
Jon Daly first appeared on Comedy Death-Ray Radio episode 28 and has since come back for a total of eight episodes of what is now called "Comedy Bang! Bang!" hosted by Scott Aukerman. His characters have been extremely weird but hilarious - most notably Sappity Tappity, Bueford Lebaron, and BillCosby Bukowski. On December 19th, 2011, Earwolf released a new episode in their "Earwolf Presents" series, "Jon Daly's Rafflecast." Only 33 minutes long, there were many strong elements to a show I hope we hear a lot more of. This show is clearly meant for an adult audience with a strong appreciation for alternative comedy. Curious what to expect? It had a great Grand Theft Auto radio station-styled introduction that plays on the intense style of morning radio, a Cypress Hill parody about the US government cracking down on dispensaries, Mr. Freeze reading Robert Frost poetry, and the show was wrapped up with a requested re-enactment of City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold within one minute. Heavy on parody and impersonation, I'm curious why there were not more of Daly's successful characters which we heard so much of on Comedy Bang! Bang! Fortunately, we at least got to hear a parody of Garrison Keillor (A Prairie Home Companion) presenting a "Jelloem" by Daly's BillCosby Bukowski, who you can see more from in the video below (NSFW): I think we can expect more episodes, perhaps even a regular podcast - but I haven't seen any promises from Earwolf for a full pickup. However, if Jon and Earwolf get good feedback we could probably have the chance to see this show evolve. Perhaps more characters, more Jon 4000 listing songs, and some guests? You can voice your opinion of this episode in Earwolf's forums, whether you liked it or not. Even if this is a one-time event, it's always great to have more Jon Daly on my computer. I think the first episode is definitely worth the time to listen and give it an 8/10. You can follow Jon Daly on his Tumblr | Twitter | Earwolf page | Funny or Die page
