Four Deck Infantry Set-up

I'm blown away by how many of you are coming to Opportunity LOL for Warstorm strategy and content! In the last 2 months, 5% of my hits were for my initial Warstorm guide. After I released the Matimilopeotryx and Cataclysm Guide, it looks like more than 7% of my traffic daily is for Warstorm! So, since you want more - I'll be releasing a new article on Warstorm every Monday. This week is Infantry and Cavalry Set-ups. There are a lot of cards across multiple factions to give Infantry cards a big boost - from Earthworks (Protect Infantry 2, Immune), Grymish The Mad (+1 Attack to all Infanty), and Shoulder to Shoulder (All Infantry gain extra health equal to the number of Infantry in play). If you synergize your decks properly, you'll have a huge edge in your PvP battles. If your opponent has a lot of Archers shooting your dragons out of the sky, counter with Cavalry. Primarily Human cards, these hefty units do double damage against Archers.

Human Matimilopeotryx w/ Strong Infantry Cards:

I know Matimilopeotryx isn't Infantry, but he's my favorite Human Hero and his flying ability gives you chance against Flyers. He also brings out 2 spells, and specific spells really help with this set-up. The Raging Knight's Whirlwind let's you do dmg to up to three opposing units at once, and Rage gives that unit extra dmg when his health goes low. Estian Warlord, Vengeful Mage, and Estian Mage are solid Infantry, but there's nothing too special about them. Ground is because I'm paranoid about running into flyers in random PvP and if you don't have protection, you pretty much lose every battle against them. Ball Lightning is exclusive to the Human faction, and it's one of my favorite spells in general. Zap 3 is sick, a wait time of 4 is great, and it's Animated so you have a 50% chance of doing the damage again and again.

Human Matimilopeotryx w/ 6 Infantry Support Cards:

Again, I love the Matimilopeotryx. Also, I don't have any good Human Infantry Heroes, so I'm left to make due :) This deck is worthless on it's own, but with the other three decks you gain so much more than if this was just a deck of strong units that didn't assist. Earthworks' Protect Infantry is really helpful, and Shoulder to Shoulder is even stronger. Get somewhat lucky, get a couple earthworks out, have a lot of units out, and get a Shoulder to Shoulder spell and you could have units with 15+ health!

Orcish Infantry:

I'd rather use Grymish w/ his +1 Attack to all Infantry over any T7 Orc since synergy matters a lot more than individual card strength. Vistav Mutant is fantastic with a 6 wait time and Blast. You can get this card if you secure the Dreadnought achievement, winning 300 challenges with 4 squads. It's not too hard and you should get it with a week or so of consistent playing. The rest of these units aren't particularly special but they're strong and fast units that can get a big boost from all of the other cards.

Undead Infantry:

There are a lot of great Undead Infantry cards out there. The Zombie Berserker was discussed in the Cataclysm guide, it's Regenerate + Berserk lets him get stronger with every turn in battle, and I've seen him with an extremely high attack when against a 1/x unit since the unit heals one every turn and it gets an additional +1 attack every time it's attacked. The Patch Warrior is one of the sickest units possible, with Flaming setting units on fire to burn 1 health every turn and Fear takes away 1 attack from up to 3 opposing adjacent units. The Abtu-Kahn Priest doesn't see battle often because 2/3 w/ a 10 wait time is garbage. However, with all of the + health and + attack units in this set-up, you could get a 4/8 unit that heals as much as it dmgs and Blast is obviously sick - doing 1 dmg to all units in play. I always toss in a Shield of Storms because of my paranoia against flyers. The Block modifier is great too, since many dragons only do one damage rendering many units harmless against you.

3 Deck Cavalry Set-up

Human Cavalry w/ Support Cards:

This deck provides support for the other decks, with Horsebarn being a HUGE help. Rush Cavalry 4 is basically Rush 4 when all units are Cavalry and you get that Rush every turn. You could bring out Arlen, Silver Knight w/ Command in only 2 turns if you pull Horsebarn, Horsebarn, Arlen. If Anglor Warsmith comes out, all units get a hefty plus 3 health and see above for info on Shield of Storms and Ball Lightning. This is another deck that's nearly useless on it's own but is worth way more than 7 strong cards that don't help each other in a multi-deck set-up.

Human Matimilopeotryx w/ 4 Cavalry + Rush:

This deck is pretty simple. 2 strong cavalry, 2 weak cavalry with modifiers, a Human Matimilopeotryx for defense against Flyers, and 2 Battle Preparations to Rush the high wait time cards out. I could get unlucky and rush the Anglor cards w/ super low wait times, but I could also get very lucky and have the Matimilopeotryx out in only a few turns.

Strong Human Cavalry w/ Flying Defense:

I know the White Dragon isn't a Cavalry card but he's a T7 Dragon that balances out all of the non-flying units in these decks. If I had infinite Warcash, I'd probably have 6-7 Pegasus Riders in this set-up because Flying + Trample gives you a big edge against land-based cards and protects against Archers. The Raging Knight isn't Cavalry either, but he's too strong not to see battle in a Human deck. Sigil of Azuba is anti-flying and gives any of these very strong units heal. Ground is flying defense as well, and if you were to play PvP with only one deck, this is a very well-rounded, strong one to use.
